Digest: ✅ Navigate the new campus map

Arboretum turns 90, efficiency tips, plan for Aggie Surplus sales and more...

Dear Colleagues,

Even as I finish my fourth year at UC Davis, I still need a map – more than just from time to time I must confess.

Just this week, our Campus Planning team launched a new campus map. I’ve checked it out. Have you? Our old map predates 2010, and a lot has changed since then, including the technology we use to develop maps. Our new map uses ArcGIS, a web-based mapping software.

A good map seems simple, but there’s a lot behind it: What information is most useful? What belongs on the map? How do we make it easier to find everything from a building address to a cup of coffee or a gender-inclusive restroom?

For a campus as large and ever-changing as ours, having a reliable and understandable map matters. The new map is built on a flexible platform that can better keep pace as our campus evolves. Take the new map for a spin and send your feedback.
